About
This Personal Purity website is a result of a Stake President challenging the Bishops in his stake to increase their spirituality and grow closer to Christ. One of these bishops, in turn, felt inspired to pass on this challenge to others, and that is how it came into our hands.
Upon reading the talk, one of the members of that bishop’s ward realized the immense power and strength that such a challenge could offer not only himself, but others. So, it began to spread to others. At a potluck party that same day that ward member recieved the talk, he asked a bunch of his friends if they wanted to go on a 40-day vacation. Many said they couldn’t get off work and a few said “sure!”
After a few started dreaming about backpacking Europe, especially Greece, that ward member explained that the vacation was actually to the wilderness–a spiritual wilderness. With everyone’s curiosity peaked, he read this talk to everyone there, and the Spirit filled the room. Everyone in that room committed to the 40-day spiritual fast that night.
Since then (by popular demand), we put up this website, and a number of people have used it to shared this challenge with friends, family members, missionaries, and even co-workers.
This website is intended not only to easily spread the 40-day challenge to others trying to grow closer to Jesus Christ, but it is also intended to facilitate communal strength and understanding for those doing the challenge.
At this current moment there are several dozens of people who are doing their 40-day challenge. We invite you to be a part of this amazing effort to draw closer to the Lord.
We encourage you when you decide to take up the challenge to add your name to the list (on the right under “Who is Doing the Challenge”), the date you begin, and where you live. This will not only help you commit, but also help encourage others to do so.
Also, leave comments at the end of this talk (in the comments section at the bottom of the home page), so people can know how it went or is going for you. If you would rather not leave your name in the comment section, just create an alias such as “Captain Moroni” or “The Woman at the Well,” but do feel free to let us know how your personal purity challenge is going (your insights, struggles, and successes), so we can all benefit from your experience. We hope that this will encourage others to follow behind you.
